The Old Vicarage
As a listed building in an idyllic rural Yorkshire Dales setting, the challenge was to offer full lighting control in a discrete manner, as well as audio and video distribution of multiple sources (Sky TV, Sky+, radio, iPod dock, DVD, music server, DVD movie server). In order to achieve this, we sited all the audio-visual kit in a ventilated equipment rack located in a hidden 2nd floor cupboard.
We also used Philips Pronto controllers, avoiding the need for wall mounted keypads which the customer did not want. The main TV screen was mounted on a lift system, and hidden behind a piece of artwork. When the remote is used to start watching TV, the artwork slides into a recess and the screen slides into view. All speakers were recessed into the ceilings to minimse their impact. Lighting control was provided by a Lutron Homeworks system. The customer has since commissioned Oldfield Home Controls to install an expanded system in a converted barn in their grounds.
